How to Make Compliance Training Programs More Attractive

Compliance or compliance with applicable regulations is essential for any organization that wants to be successful in the long term, regardless of its size or income.

Non-compliance has the potential to harm the organization materially in the form of lawsuits, safety violations, regulatory fines, etc. It’s time for companies to protect their employees by understanding the rules through compliance training.

Here are some ways to make compliance training programs more attractive.

Consider the Presence of Millennials as Training Participants

Millennials are synonymous with people who are active and have high mobility, so develop a training program that can be accessed by mobile devices. In addition, focus on micro learning strategies if you want the compliance training materials to be truly understood by the trainees – who incidentally are millennials – in the long term.

Consider using multimedia technology, hosting webinars, and creating or sharing video content on demand for such compliance training programs, as the current generation is always consuming and looking for interesting and interactive content, especially video content.

Include Interactive Elements

If you want this obedience training program to be more engaging, make sure it includes interactive material. Namely scenario-based learning, story, or role-playing.

Training participants can be involved in a learning activity. For example, participants were instructed to fill out polls, take quizzes, and conduct simulations, or social studies.

Contextualize Training to Be More Relevant

If you want trainees to be truly involved in a compliance training program, make the material relevant to their duties and responsibilities in the everyday world of work.

For example, the presenter can demonstrate compliance with the rules of preventing violations in everyday work scenarios, demonstrate what a safety violation is like, or show how to prevent violations of work procedures.

Don’t just give employees a pile of rule guidelines and expect them to follow them. Employees must also see how compliance rules or regulations are applicable to them in their daily lives.

Motivating and Incentivizing Training Participants

Trainees or employees may be awarded some sort of points or badges when they have completed a compliance training module. This method is an example of an incentive that can encourage them to be active in training conducted using gamification techniques.

Or, offer gift cards to employees who complete compliance training program requirements ahead of schedule. It could also require prospective leaders and managers to complete a compliance training program before they qualify for promotions or additional responsibilities.

Use Other Important Resources

Companies that have a culture of openness will involve their employees a lot, so be sure to provide employees with relevant regulatory information to motivate them to get involved and complete compliance training program requirements.

For example, by showing statistics on the probability of injury when using machines without standardized procedures, or showing statistics on reporting of sexual harassment in the company along with the facts of the consequences during a sexual harassment prevention training program to emphasize the importance of such training.

Ensure that every employee has access to relevant and up-to-date compliance regulations, policies and procedures documents.
